The Synopsis of Soccer

Soccer is a beautiful game which has been played for hundreds of years, and is seen commonly throughout today. The game is, in some ways, an artform mastered by only a few select players. Such as: Pele, Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo,Thierry Henry, Robert Lewandowski, Diego Maradona, Arsene Wenger, Johan Cryuff, Zinedine Zidane, and many more. This game is not just about putting a ball in the back of the opponets net, but it is a game of strategy, creativity, determination, and physicality. The main objective of this game is for a team to get a ball in the back of the oppositions goal. Both teams have 10 players and a goalkeeper. The keeper tries to keep the opposition for scoring on your goal and is the only person who can touch the ball with their hands. The only other way somone can touch the ball is when it goes out on the sideline, and then the team who did not touch the ball last gets to throw in the ball, but the player who throws the ball in must keep their feet on the ground. Some other rules: you cannot kick the other players feet if they do not have control of the ball, you cannot touch the ball with your hand unless you are the goalkeeper, and you cannot pass the ball to someone who is past the last defender. These rules are called fouls. If the defesne commits a personal foul (handball, kicking the opponents feet without them having control of the ball) against the opposition within the 18 yard line and the goal, it results in a penalty to the other team. A penalty is basically a free goal because of the fact that it is a one on one situation between a striker and the goalkeeper.
