Fun facts about snakes of Tennessee
Tennessee has 28 non venomous snake species
Controlling rat and mouse infestations is a beneficial trait of snakes.
There are only 4 of these snake species within the state boundaries that are venomous.
Common water snakes (non-venomous) are often mistaken for the venomous cottonmouth, water moccasin.
Most snakes can produce live young or lay eggs.
Tennessee at large has a total of 32 native snake species.
Their are eight common snakes
Eastern Kingsnake, Rat snake, Garter snake, Black Racer snake, Brown snakes, Copperhead snake, Cottonmouth snakes(Water Moccasins), and Coral snakes
