Automat

This painting was first displayed on Valentine's Day 1927 at the opening of Hopper's second solo show. The painting portrays a lone woman staring into a cup of coffee in an automat at night.

Chop Suey

This painting portrays two women in conversation at a restaurant. In November 2018, it was sold at a record price for the artist's work.

Nighthawks

This painting portrays people in a downtown diner late at night as viewed through the diner's large glass window. It is Hopper's best known work.

Hopper's Work

When asked to discuss his art, Hopper replied "The whole answer is there on the canvas." His art continues to be viewed and marveled at to this day.
