Artic Foxes
Arctic foxes (Vulpes Lagopus) are extremely well-adapted to the harsh, frigid temperatures of the
Arctic.
Their thick fur enables them to maintain a consistent body temperature and provides insulation. Plus, their
short legs, short muzzle and rounded ears all reduce the amount of surface area for heat loss, and their feet
are covered in fur.
The Arctic fox has the warmest pelt of any animal found in the Arctic, enduring temperatures as low as
-70
(Once conditions get too cold, its metabolism increases to provide warmth.)
The Arctic fox is a member of the canidae family of animals. They are related to other foxes, wolves and
dogs.
