About Vanderbilt
At the age of 16, he bought a ferry boat to travel across the Hudson river, it was so efficient that he bought more, and after all he bought he practically controlled the river. This was just the beginning of his glorious plan to control the WORLD... trade. When he realized that the real money was coming from the railroad, he saw that as opportunity. So he bought some trains with some train cars and he was set to go. It was so popular that he bought some railroads in the late 1860's. He was a force no one could stop, that was until James Frisk jr. came into play. The rivalry between Cornelius Vanderbilt and a James Frisk jr. was well known throughout, but of course Vanderbilt came out on top. He also gave some of his ships to the US military, he offered his largest ship known as the "vanderbilt" to the military but they had no use for it. He instead sold it to another group.
