College

Davidson College in North Carolina landed Stephen Curry, the school hit the college basketball lottery. As a freshman, Curry carried the Wildcats to the 2007 NCAA tournament and set the NCAA freshman season record for three-point field goals with 113. Although Davidson lost to Maryland in the tournament, Curry was named Southern Conference Freshman of the Year. Curry once again led Davidson to the NCAA Tournament during his sophomore season. This time, however, Davidson would make it out of the first round. Curry scored 40 points, going eight-for-10 from three-point range to lead his school past Gonzaga. It was Davidson's first tournament win since 1969. Davidson would also upset third-seeded Wisconsin that year. Curry would go on to set the record for the most three-pointers made in one season. Unfortunately, the Wildcats were ousted from the tournament by top-seeded Kansas. Curry opted out of his senior season to enter the NBA.

Brief NBA info

Despite his lack of size (Curry is 6-foot 3-inches tall) the Golden State Warriors used the 7th pick in the 2009 NBA draft on him. He finished his rookie season averaging 17.5 points per game and was unanimously named to the 2010 All-Rookie First Team. Before the 2012-13 NBA season, the Warriors signed Curry to a four-year extension worth $44 million. Curry led the league in three-pointers made (272) in 2012-13. The following season he repeated that feat (with 261) and earned his first All-Star selection. In 2014-15 he made a then-record 286 three-pointers while leading the Warriors to an NBA-best 67-15 record and was named the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP). In the following postseason, Curry propelled the Warriors to the franchise's first title in 40 years over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Curry led his team to even greater heights in 2015-16, as Golden State bested the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' 72-10 regular-season record by one additional victory. Curry earned his second consecutive MVP award for his efforts and became the first person to be voted MVP unanimously. In 2016-17 Curry led the NBA in three-point field goals made (324) for a fifth straight season as the Warriors again led the NBA in wins (67).
