Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is an Incan built area situated in the Andes Mountains in Peru. It was built sometime in the 15th century and was abandoned later. Machu Picchu is very interesting to archeologists because of the sophisticated building types and the intricate positioning of the buildings hat follow astronomical alignments.
The Incans domesticated alpacas and llamas about 4,000 years ago. They became so important to the Incan society that hunting them was forbidden. Both llamas and alpacas still roam the Machu Picchu ruins and can often be seen photo bombing many tourists' pictures.
Machu Picchu is Peru's leading tourist attraction. There are over a hundred flights of stairs which totals to over 3,000 steps. The majority of the steps were actually carved from a single slab of stone.
