James Dean: Tragic Early Death

Shortly after filming Giant, James Dean was involved in a fatal car crash. He died before the final edits were made, but ultimately recieved a posthumous award for his work. He is still the only actor in history to recieve more than one Oscar nomination after death. |
| At the age of 24, James Dean crashed head-on with another vehicle after turning at an intersection. Dean had also professionally raced cars in his free time, and was on a trip driving his new Porsche to a weekend race when the accident happened. It is said he died instantaneously. 600 people attended his funeral, while 2400 gathered outside the procession to mourn. He is currently buried at Park Cemetery in Fairmount. |  |
